New Zealand Cruise Expert Guide
New Zealand is a country guaranteed to surprise.
Emerald green landscapes and towering mountains
mingle with spectacular fjords and icy glaciers
in a land that is only 2,200 kms from the frozen
continent of Antarctica. That's the equivalent
of the distance between Miami and New York! A
visit to these shores is something that everyone
should do in their lifetime, but the only way to
get the full New Zealand experience is to book
yourself on a New Zealand cruise. A New Zealand cruise insures that you'll get the
best out of your visit to these islands. Ten,
twelve and fourteen-day cruises around New Zealand
generally begin in Auckland on the North Island
or in Sydney, Australia. They take in many ports
of call along the Eastern coast of the North and
South Islands, as well as a few 'bonus' ports in
Australia and Tasmania - these generally being
Melbourne and Hobart. Auckland is known as the City of Sails. It is
located on the northern shores of the North Island
and is renowned for its cosmopolitan population,
spectacular views and excellent shopping
facilities. Beautiful sandy beaches await all
who visit Auckland, as well as a wealth of land
and sea adventure activities - from sailing to
trekking alongside dormant volcanoes. At the North Island's most southerly point is
New Zealand's capital - Wellington. Here you can
experience the heart and soul of modern New Zealand
life and enjoy spectacular views of the
South Island. If you time it right, you could even
watch the Dragon Boat Festival that takes place
in Wellington Harbor in March every year. Further down the coast is Christchurch - gateway
to the Southern Alps and the magnificent Aoraki
Mount Cook National Park. Shore excursions into the
National Park can be arranged from Christchurch,
enabling you to experience spectacular views of this
awe-inspiring land. Close-by is Mount Sunday, famed
as the location in which the City of Edoras and the
Court of Meduseld were constructed for the shooting
of The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Wild coastal scenery and New Zealand's oldest city
greet all who visit the port of Dunedin to the
south-east of the South Island, while Fjordland
National Park on the southern tip of New Zealand
really brings home the beauty and diversity of
landscapes that exist in New Zealand. If you want a to experience a truly magical journey
in a land that is now synonymous with Tolkein's
'Middle Earth', then a New Zealand cruise can give
you all this and more... John Metcalfe is the author and web publisher of A to Z Cruises your #1

Meguiars RV and Marine Boat Cleaners and Waxes; Test Results
One of the most famous and popular brands in the wax industry is Meguiar's. Meguiar's has stood the test of time as a brand name. Some of the after market competitors of theirs as well as the larger users of the product have complained that Meguiar's has turned their back on the professional user market for the consumer market through their newest and largest customer Wal-Mart. Many in the auto, aircraft and boat detailing industries have even been critical of Meguair's recently because they feel this is a slap in the face to the loyal operator who has paid premium prices for quality products and now can see those with the Meguiar's brand name on the shelves.
Dock and Deck Cleaning Business
A great addition to cleaning boats in a marina will be also to take care of any buildings that are on or near the water, and the docks themselves as they can get covered with bird droppings, dirt, spider webs, and anything like that. Wood decks, docks and piers are subject to attack by moss, insects, sun, salt spray, fish guts, water damage, physical wear, foot traffic, rain, snow, morning dew. All of which are quickly absorbed into unprotected wood causing it to swell, deteriorate and chip away, also causing shrinking, warping, splitting, cracking and discoloration.

Reducing Wake Turbulence and Wing-Tip Vortices Using Contoured Winglet Designs
Some Taiwan scientists have figured out a way to reduce the wake from ferries crossing the harbor, most harbors and lakes, many rivers have speed limits to reduce the wake which cases hardships accidents, inconvenience and damage to other craft. We have all heard of the gentleman who ended up between the dock and hull of a large boat and was crushed to death, so obviously it is a serious matter. Yet speed on the water saves time and means greater profits more movement in less time means more efficiency. In places like Taiwan with the insanely high populations, there are serious needs getting all the people where they need to be.

Monaco Yachts
Sea and rich people: where else to find a better combination than in Monaco! A real Monaco yachts parade can be admired throughout the year in the Hercule Port, beside the local yearly yachting events. From imposing, big-sized ones to neat, small, jewel yachts. If you are a yachting amateur or if you are hardly interested in the matter (as I was before seeing this impressive display) you will find something to like here.
Water Molecule Alignment for Increased Speed In the Water
A submarine can move faster thru the water if the water molecules are all aligned the same way. This can be done a number of ways. A small device out front of the craft which sends electical impulses into the relative water flow as the submarine moves towards that area. This device could be separated and break up the water flows thru it's own shape to move the water in the most desired direction like a boat breaking the waves for a water skier. The device could also emit a pulse to align those water molecules in front of the craft so there would be less water friction and thus greater speed. The water could also be semi DE-Ionized by way of magnets, chemicals, porcelin magnetic scramblers, etc. Any such device would streamline the water moving across the submarines outer surface slowing it down. One could even use a wetting agent like at a car wash or like the agricultural industry uses in just slight amounts. This technique could be used by torpedoes for speed. Underwater Navy Seals teams with hand held motivation devices or even the hulls of large ships. This saves fuel, increases speed and enhances performance and life of the surface of the vessel.

A Land Divided - A World United - The Panama Canal
It has been called "the big ditch", "the bridge between two continents" and "the greatest shortcut in the world". One look at the immensity of the Canal, and you will understand why a French company with a labor force of 10,000 men went bankrupt trying to excavate it. The project, while conceived in 1534 by Charles I of Spain, began in 1882 and ended seven years later in disaster with over 22,000 people dead from disease and pestilence. The United States took over the assets of a French company in 1902 and began the process of finishing the canal.
The History of Water Sports
Swimming is noted in many of the classics as relating to heroism and religion. Nicolas Wynman's Dialogue Concerning the Art of Swimming (1538) is the first recorded written document on swimming methods. Swimming first appeared in the Olympics in 1896, paralleled to the development of the swimming pool. Swimming the English Channel is the most publicized non-Olympic event. It proves excellence in strength and endurance. Matthew Webb from England was the first man to cross the English Channel in 1875, and later Gertrude Ederle of the Unites States of America became the first woman to cross in 1926.

Boat Washing 101 - Spring is Here, Lets Go Boating
As a boat owner you know that washing the boat can be time consuming. You also know that the longer you put it off the harder it is to clean. The ideal time to wash a boat is after it has been used. In an ideal world we would have someone waiting for us after each use who would spend an hour cleaning it up and putting another coat of wax on it. If you have a pressure washer on the dock it behooves you to spray off the waterline before and after each use. It would also make sense to put a quick coat of wax on the hull. There are many products, which can quicken the boat cleaning process if you choose to do it yourself. There are many tools you can also use to assist you. One excellent tool is a roto-scrubber, which provides agitation and saves your muscles and back. Let's face it even a relaxing day on the water can make one fatigued. Under ideal conditions you would use a pressure washer with warm De-ionized or reverse osmosis water and a roto-scrubber and spend a ten minutes to fifteen minutes per side. This should be enough to get you through 40 to sixty feet.
